Remember the Spooky Bat Tree that I made for Halloween? Well the bats are long gone, and the tree has been sitting on the credenza waiting for Old Man Winter to arrive. And now, as far as I’m concerned, Old Man Winter is here!
The spooky bat tree is now a frost covered tree. This project is easy and really inexpensive, but a little messy.
Supplies: bare branches, epsom salt, spray adhesive, rubber band, vase, newspaper and rocks
Once you have your branches, lay them on some newspaper, spray on the adhesive and sprinkle the epsom salt. Turn over the branches and do the other side. Easy peasy.
Once you are done, arrange the branches so they resemble a tree and rubber band them together. I used the thicker, yet smaller rubber band that they used to hold broccoli stems together.
Then wrap the newspaper around the base of the branches, stick it in a (not clear) vase and stuff in more crumpled newspaper until your tree stays where you want it to. Place rocks or marbles or ornaments around the base to cover the newspaper.
Some of the salt falls off when you are arranging the tree and the branches touch each other. This makes a mess, but just vacuum it up and it’s done!
